Ok. I just gotta say this.... WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED. ???
Orin Isaacs THANK YOU for seeing me and for giving me this chance. You are a lovely man who also happens to be the Music Director + Producer for the Juno Awards and have been for quite some time. You remind me that ANYTHING is possible.
So I had the chance to back up Daniel Caesar, who just happened to take home the award for R&B Album of the Year. Ummm yeah. I also had the chance to work with some amazing people on his creative team - choreography, vocals and recording.
It honestly was an incredible sensation to be surrounded by many Canadian iconic artists and groups - to be getting my make up done and look over to see Steven Page from the Bare Naked Ladies a couple chairs over.... or to walk down the hall and make eye contact with Geddy Lee from Rush and take a moment to offer up prayer hands as a sign of respect...to share the dressing room with singers and string players from Arcade Fire or to sit and eat with musicians from Shawn Hook's band...to be standing in holding waiting to go back stage to take our places and see Buffy St.Marie 3 feet away in an interview or walk past Diana Krall's dressing room.
To witness an incredible (and large) crew working tirelessly making the magic happen from behind the scenes, the talent wranglers, the choreographers, the camera people... the list is endless.....it's a very well put together event - I learned so much! I also learned that magic does exist and that anything is possible.
And so now I take the fire that this has lit in me and continue to write music, perform, dream, visualize and take action steps toward making more music and finding ways to be on stage, in the studio or wherever I can continue to nourish myself with my passion....it doesn't stop.... I am blessed. Thank you again..... I love you
